US Pleased With Turkey’s Offer of Aid in Iraq

Boucher stated that Turkey’s offer of humanitarian aid and bids for construction projects in Iraq was also discussed in Washington during Foreign Ministry Undersecretary, Ambassador Ugur Ziyal’s recent visit. Boucher said that the international coordination council of regional coalition administration in Baghdad were evaluating all the offers.

In a statement to the Financial Times, Gul had stressed that it would be a mistake for the US and England to focus solely on security issues and that Turkey could meet other basic needs by providing electricity in northern Iraq by connecting the lines across the border, as well as clean water and the exchange of oil and gasoline.
