US plans to gather Greek and Turkish Cyprus in October
After UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan’s Cyprus plan failed and dismissal of UN special Cyprus Envoy Alvaro de Soto, the US decided to take initiative to restart negotiations between Turkish and Greek Cyprus.
So it is reportedly preparing to gather both sides under the chairmanship of Thomas Weston. Towards this end, Weston will meet with Turkish Cypriot President Rauf Denktas and his Greek Cypriot counterpart Tassos Papadopoulos in New York in September.
