US Hostage Rescue Operation Fails

Americans Eugene Armstrong and Jack Hensley and British national Ken Bigley were kidnapped from their home in Bagdat (Baghdad) on September 16th.

An American official wishing to remain anonymous said yesterday that the rescue teams acted on intelligence reports on the three hostages and raided two places in Baghdad, but could not find anything.

The first of the two operations was carried out when all three hostages were alive and the second one was organized immediately after Armstrong was killed. The official went on to say that they did not know whether or not the intelligence information was accurate and said they were just trying to rescue the hostages.
