US Business Entourage Visits Northern Cyprus

The delegation will meet with the chamber of commerce and industry representatives during their one-day visit. ABFT Chairman Halim Neyzi said yesterday this visit will be the first official step toward recognition of the TRNC.

The ABFT Chairman explained that the Forum is trying to develop Turkey’s commercial relations with the third world countries and others adding: "US Ambassador to Ankara Eric Edelman had said at a news conference that the US administration had allocated $30 million for Northern Cyprus. We will try to help with that issue. If an electricity plant is needed or some innovations in the banking sector or investments in telecommunication are required, we will try to set up the infrastructure of these developments." The contact will be ongoing, Neyzi said as he drew attention to the importance of the inflow of US commodities and services to Northern Cyprus. This trip is a "first" Neyzi underlined. The companies participating in the delegation and their fields of operation are as follows: Shaw/Stone & Webster (infrastructure and energy), El Paso (energy), FedEx Express (mail and cargo), Cushman & Wakefield (real estate), Comcast (telecommunication), Oracle (software), GNC (vitamin and health products), World Trade Center (funding for small and medium sized enterprises), Raymond James (investment), American Express Bank (banking).
