Updates as plane ‘declares emergency’ during flight from Gatwick to Turkey
A British Airways flight that took off from London Gatwick bound for Antalya in Turkey has declared an emergency near to its destination.
The flight BA2864 was scheduled for 12.45pm today but took off from Gatwick just after 1pm. It’s due to land in Antalya at 7pm local time (5pm London time). The aircraft is a 21 year old Airbus A320-232.
The pilots of the plane have declared a code 7700, an aviation squawk code used to indicate an emergency of any kind. Further detail of the emergency is not yet known.

‘Flight landed safely’
British Airways have confirmed that the flight landed safely in Antalya after declaring the emergency.
A spokesperson said: “The aircraft landed normally and safely and our customers disembarked as normal.”
They did not offer any further information as to the nature of the emergency or why it was declared.
