Up to 12 Turkish drivers killed in Iraq

“Four trucks with Turkish number plates were destroyed this morning at 10:00 am at the Balad bridge,” according to Iraqi Lieutenant Colonel Ahmed Hassan. “They were on the main highway between Baghdad and Mosul and all those inside were killed.”
However, Hassan did not say precisely how many Turkish men had been in the trucks at the time of the attack, nor did he give their names.
In another attack late Saturday night, three Turkish trucks were targeted in the town of Dujail, said Major Adel Ibrahim of the Iraqi police.
According to witnesses to the attack, as many as six Turks were either killed or abducted in the incident.
“There were trucks with a total of three drivers and three helpers,” said a witness quoted by the AFP news agency. “One of the drivers was shot dead on the spot and the five other people were abducted.”
