UN Committee Approves Nuclear Terrorism
The said convention unanimously defines nuclear terrorism and supports an international legal framework to combat nuclear terrorism.
It also made international cooperation and information exchange on the subject mandatory. It holds governments liable for the punishment or deportation of those who constitute a nuclear threat against people, buildings, and the environment.
UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan, issuing a statement regarding the approval of the convention, invited all countries to sign the convention.
