UK Parliament to Blair: Where are the WMD?
According to The Guardian, which aired the alleged arguments, most members of parliament feel uncomfortable that no weapons of mass destruction (WMD) have been found in Iraq, even though the country is now under the control of coalition forces. The paper reported that these politicians are seeking the establishment of a commission to determine if Britain’s foreign intelligence organization MI6 deceived the government and the House of Commons. Claiming that some deputies believed they had been deceived in order to secure their support for the war, one former minister reportedly said, "Parliament should be sure to examine what intelligence organizations told us about Saddam’s weapons of mass destruction."
Pointing out that Labour Party deputy Lindsay Hoyle, who supported Britain’s participation in the war, agrees with this argument, the paper noted that Hoyle had supported Blair in parliament as a result of his frightening declarations about the weapons in Saddam’s hands.
