U.S: Turks will not be Made to Suffer if Greeks say ‘No’

A high ranking American diplomat spoke to Zaman and said "It is obvious that the Turkish side will be in a difficult situation if the Greek say ‘No’ and the Turks say ‘Yes’ in the referenda. America will do whatever is necessary not to victimize the Turkish side."

When asked if this meant lifting the embargo and recognizing TRNC, the diplomat replied, "Now we are working hard to ensure a ‘Yes’ from the referendum on April 24. I will not talk about speculations." The official also stressed that Cyprus should no longer be an obstacle for Turkey-European Union relations.
