U.S. Trained Iraqi Troops Join Rebellion
Reportedly the soldiers disapproved of the Americans’ strategy. The Kurds and Shiite among soldiers refused to follow orders since the American forces targeted the mosques.
Emir Huseyin, one of the members of the troops in Fallujah, said that 180 soldiers out of the 240 assigned to patrol in southern part of the city, wanted to leave. Huseyin said, "Most of the soldiers do not feel right. We do not want to shoot at mosques and destroy houses. We cannot protect ourselves from mortar attacks. We have do not have the necessary firepower. The terrorists are armed better than us."
