Two PKK terrorists killed in Kahramanmaras
Two Kalashnikov rifles, four walkie-talkies, one handgun and ammunition were seized along with the bodies of the terrorists.
Violence in the region has increased since the PKK ended a five-year unilateral cease-fire weeks ago.
Kahramanmaras Governor Ilhan Atis said no one among the security forces were injured during the confrontation, adding that the region had returned to peace.
He said, as a result of the detailed operations carried out by the Gendarmerie and security forces in the last two months, no terrorists remained in the region. They would have liked to have captured the terrorists alive, said Atis, but the security forces were not given that chance.
Some 37,000 people were killed in 15 years of separatist fighting. The PKK suspended hostilities in 1999 following the capture of their leader, Abdullah Ocalan.
