Two PKK militants killed in south eastern Turkey
One of the two men killed died when a hand grenade he was about to throw at members of the security forces detonated in his hand. He had been planting a land mine on a road in the province of Sirnak at the time he was discovered by security forces, according to a statement from the office of the provincial governor.
The other man killed died during an exchange of fire with Turkish troops in the province of Tunceli.
Twelve people were taken into custody in Sirnak and another eight in Tunceli on suspicion of links to the outlawed terrorist group. A quantity of arms and ammunition was seized during raids in Sirnak, authorities said.
