TUSIAD Backs Government’s Cyprus Talks
TUSIAD President, Omer Sabanci, said "The government has showed a desire for a solution that deserves to be congratulated as it received strength from a broad political and social agreement. This desire was realized by holding fast to an initiative based on its intent to provide prosperity and happiness to Turkish Cypriots and to strengthen Turkey’s position for European Union (EU) membership," Sabanci added.
At the Industrialist and Businessmen Associations (SIAD) Platform Presidents Council, organized in Bandirma, Balikesir, Sabanci noted that the government has to determine a resolved attitude in solving the problems all around Turkey in international relations and said that the attitude displayed for the Cyprus issue was the best example.
Sabanci said deficiencies in the Copenhagen Criteria should be fulfilled immediately on the way to the E.U. and added that amendments to improve individual freedoms should be effectively implemented. Sabanci noted that constitutional steps should be taken to support civil politics, judiciary, and transparency in all kinds of public expenditures.
