Turks Did Not Forget Sacks Troops Controversy
Dulger said that even though it was necessary to send soldiers to Iraq for the interests of Turkey, U.S. should guarantee that the control of Iraq would pass to U.N. after a while.

The government reportedly plans to employ the permit, that was passed by Parliament on March 20, in case of a possibility to send troops to Iraq. Through this way it will try to silence the in-party opposition. AKP government had passed a permit from Parliament on March 20 to open the air corridor of Turkey to foreign aircraft in the planning process of Iraq operation by U.S. In the last paragraph of that permit, the government got the power to send troops to Northern Iraq. With the recent discussions, the question of whether the power granted by this permit is sufficient for the government to dispatch troops also surfaced. FM Abdullah Gul, said that if the dispatch of troops would not be realized within the framework of U.N. or NATO, the government would need a fresh authorization.
U.S. Awaits Turkey’s Response for One Billion Dollars
U.S. Ambassador Pearson said that U.S. had sent a draft agreement a month ago to Ankara, for the one-billion-dollar grant his government will make available to Turkey. According to Pearson, Ankara did not respond yet.
