Turkiye’s unemployed aged over 15 fall by 19,000 to 3.57 mn in March


The number of unemployed aged 15 and over in Turkiye decreased by 19,000 to 3.57 million in March this year compared to the previous month, according to official statistics.

The unemployment rate was estimated at 8.6 per cent in the month—a decrease of 0.1 percentage point month on month (MoM); it was an estimated 6.8 per cent for men and 12 per cent for women.

The number of employed increased by 139,000 MoM to 32.588 million in March. The employment rate was 49.5 per cent in the month—an increase of 0.2 percentage point. This rate was 66.9 per cent for men and 32.5 per cent for women, an official release said.

The number of persons in the labour force was 35.645 million in March—an increase of 121,000 compared to the previous month. The labour force participation rate was 54.2 per cent—a rise of 0.2 percentage point. This rate was 71.8 per cent for men and 36.9 per cent for women.

The youth unemployment rate in the 15-24 age group was 15.1 per cent—a fall of 0.4 percentage point compared to the previous month. This rate was an estimated 11.7 per cent for men and 21.2 per cent for women.
