Turkiye’s retail trade confidence plummets in June


Turkiye’s seasonally adjusted confidence index for the retail trade sector has declined in June, according to the Turkish Statistical Institute (Turkstat). The index fell by 2.6 per cent in June, dropping to 108.8 from 111.7 in May.

The business activity-sales index for the past three months fell by 1.4 per cent to 123.7, while the current volume of stock index decreased by 3.4 per cent to 89.1.
The sales expectation index for the next three months also declined by 3.3 per cent to 113.5.

In addition to the overall confidence index, other key indicators also showed declines. The business activity-sales over the past three months index saw a slight decline of 1.4 per cent, dropping from 125.4 in May to 123.7 in June, following a 7.7 per cent decrease in the previous month.

The current volume of stock index also experienced a decrease, falling by 3.4 per cent from 92.2 in May to 89.1 in June, reversing a 2.9 per cent increase observed in May. Furthermore, the business activity-sales expectation over the next three months index decreased by 3.3 per cent, from 117.4 in May to 113.5 in June, as per Turkstat.
