Türkiye’s paid employment rises by 2.7% annually in September
Türkiye’s workforce continues to expand, with a 2.7% annual increase in the number of paid employees in September 2024, according to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK).
The institute reported that the total number of paid employees in the industry, construction, and trade-services sectors reached 15.97 million in September, up from 15.55 million in the same month of the previous year.
However, a closer look at sectoral trends reveals a mixed picture. While the construction and trade-services sectors experienced significant growth of 6.3% and 4.0%, respectively, the industrial sector saw a slight decline of 0.7%.
On a monthly basis, the number of paid employees increased by a modest 0.2%. The construction and trade-services sectors contributed to this growth, while the industrial sector experienced a marginal decrease of 0.2%.
These figures indicate a dynamic labor market in Türkiye, with growth concentrated in certain sectors while others face challenges. (ILKHA)
