Turkish Fashion Fair Starts In New York

ITKIB Chairman Oguz Satici said in the opening of the fair that they compete with the French and Italian firms in the field of textile and ready-made clothing, adding that they will also organize fairs in London and other big cities of Europe. He stressed that the textile and ready-to-wear exports of Turkish firms increased by two folds by organizing such kind of fairs.
Turkey Exporters Assembly (TEA) promotion official Cem Kaprol said that they attributed great importance to internet and press promotion with accompaniment of RP companies and noted that the United States and Europe showed great interest in Turkish textile products.
ITKIB’s representative in New York Ziya Sukun said that ITKIB was lobbying to lift quota implementation on Turkish textile products in the United States.
Sukun drew attention to successes of Turkish firms including Mavi Jeans, Damat/Tween and Sarar in the United States.
Suleyman Orakcioglu, TEA Deputy Chairman and owner of Damat/Tween firm, told reporters that ready-to-wear clothing sector was an important sector for Turkey and added that Turkey could increase its export in that sector to 10 billion U.S. dollars.
