Turkish envoys headed troubled Kyrgyzstan

Ambassador Metin Goker, who served in Kyrgyzstan during the 1990s, is leading the delegation, which Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul said would hold talks with various factions in the country.
The plane that the delegation flew out on on Friday will also be used to evacuate any Turkish nationals who wish to leave the country, Gul said.
Over the past week, there have been increasingly well supported protests against the government of Kyrgys President Askar Akayev. The demonstrators, who took control of the central government compound on Thursday, claim that election results in February and March were fraudulent.
Foreign Minister Gul said that he welcomed the appointment of opposition leader Kurmanbek Bakiyev as interim head of state.
“This is good because it shows that the things are under control,” Gul said. “We hope that stability will be restored in the shortest possible time.”
