Turkish engineer was kidnaped in Afghanistan

Diplomatic sources said on Friday that Onal and an Afghan driver were kidnapped on Thursday when they were on the road between Kabul and Kandahar which was under control of the U.S. forces.

Sources said that Taliban forces released the Afghan driver on Friday morning and sent a letter including their demands through the driver.

Sources said Taliban forces demanded release of six Taliban members who were detained by the United States in return for Onal in the letter and noted that Hasan Onal called the office in the construction site and said that his health condition was good.

It is estimated that Onal was taken to the country’s border with Pakistan.

Sources added that Turkish Embassy in Kabul launched initiatives to rescue Onal.
