Turkish court charges 22 marxists

Of the 23 suspects who appeared before the state security court, 22 of them were charged with "membership of an illegal organization" and sent to jail.

The court released the remaining suspect pending trial.

Tuesday’s decision brings to more than 25 the number of suspects charged in Turkey for links with the Revolutionary People’s Liberation Party Front.

The group has been blacklisted by the European Union since May 2002 and was the target of police raids last week in Turkey, Belgium, Germany, Italy and the Netherlands.
