Turkish Airlines’ Widect Celebrates One Year of E-Commerce Growth – Focus on Travel News
Turkish Airlines’ logistics brand Widect marks its first anniversary, celebrating a year of innovation and expansion in e-commerce logistics.
Launched in 2023 to integrate logistics solutions with the fast-growing e-commerce sector, Widect has played a pivotal role in boosting exports from Turkey while establishing itself as a key player in the global e-commerce ecosystem.
At a ceremony held at the Turkish Airlines headquarters in Yeşilköy, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Bolat, Chairman of Turkish Airlines, expressed his satisfaction with the progress Widect has made in its inaugural year.
He emphasized that Widect was designed to meet the needs of Turkey’s small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and help them reach global markets through e-commerce.
Bolat noted that Turkish Airlines’ vast flight network significantly impacts the trade volume between Turkey and other nations.
He highlighted that by leveraging these connections, Widect offers tailored solutions for exporters, making new markets accessible and creating opportunities for Turkish businesses to thrive internationally. The brand aims to contribute to Turkey’s goal of e-exports accounting for 10% of total exports.
Widect’s primary mission is to assist Turkish SMEs in expanding globally through efficient logistics solutions. In its first year, Widect transported over one million packages worldwide, focusing on high-value products made in Turkey.
Bolat reaffirmed that Turkish Airlines’ goal is not just to transport goods from anywhere in the world, but to prioritize delivering Turkey’s value-added products to international markets.
Widect offers an integrated suite of logistics services, from export and import customs clearance to air cargo and door-to-door delivery, addressing every logistical need for the e-commerce sector. By combining Turkish Airlines’ extensive flight network with Turkish Cargo’s expertise, Widect provides seamless end-to-end solutions to its corporate e-commerce clients.
Enes Yılmaz, General Manager of Widect, outlined the company’s vision to make Istanbul a major hub for e-commerce. “In the next five years, we plan to transform Istanbul into a mega e-commerce transit point,” Yılmaz said, adding that this would significantly contribute to job creation and economic growth in Turkey.
Widect’s logistics offerings include a range of specialized services that cater to the demands of the e-commerce industry. With its streamlined processes and innovative solutions, Widect is positioning itself as a key driver in Turkey’s e-commerce ambitions, helping to grow the country’s international footprint in online trade.
As Widect continues to expand its operations, it aims to strengthen Turkey’s role as a leader in global e-commerce logistics, ensuring that Turkish businesses can reach customers around the world more efficiently and effectively. The company’s comprehensive approach to logistics is a crucial part of its strategy to boost exports and support the national economy.
