Turkish Airlines Partners With Airbus And Rolls-Royce To Enhance Turkey’s Aerospace Capabilities – Travel Radar
Turkish Airlines has recently announced a new powerful partnership with Airbus and Rolls Royce following the “STEP” strategy. The announcement took place at Turkish Airlines’ headquarters in Istanbul, commemorating the Turkish Airlines order of 150 A321neo and 80 A350 family aircraft in December of 2023, together with Airbus and Rolls-Royce.

In the latest news, Turkish Airlines announced a new partnership with Airbus and Rolls-Royce, a power solution company that provides safety applications and aero-engine manufacturing. As mentioned in the Travel Radar article, Turkish Airlines is recently investing in new strategies and partnerships, notably the partnership with Vietnam Airlines, to provide travellers with larger and faster networks to enhance the airlines’ global position and air cargo transportation.
Furthermore, the latest announced Turkish Airlines partnership with Airbus and Rolls-Royce and its Strategic Türkiye Enhanced Programme (STEP) aims to enhance innovation, create “high-skilled” jobs, and encourage developments in the aerospace sector in Turkey through a growth plan. The partnership of three powerful businesses is set to boost the economic value for the next 15 years.

With the announced partnership with strong manufacturing businesses like Rolls-Royce, Turkish Airlines aims to commit to the excellence and enhancement of Turkish aerospace capabilities to be able to bring advanced technologies and collaborative strategies together for Turkey’s aerospace growth plan.
The recent aircraft order brought Turkish Airlines, now known as the world’s largest operator of Rolls-Royce’s Trent XWB engine. According to the CEO of Rolls-Royce, Tufan Erginbilgiç, Turkey is strategically powerful for the Rolls-Royce business. Sir Tufan expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership by stating:
“We are very pleased with the confidence that Turkish Airlines has placed in our Trent XWB engines. We now look forward to working with Turkish Airlines and our partners to use our extensive aerospace engineering experience to benefit the Turkish economy, grow the country’scountry’s skills base, and expand its role in the energy transition. I am personally very energised by the strengthening relationship between our great establishment, Turkish Airlines and the Republic of Türkiye.”
Turkey is also an important country for the Airbus supply chain, as it has been for over 20 years. It is important to acknowledge that Airbus supports over 3,500 Turkish jobs in aeronautical fields. In 2023, Airbus invested a total that has exceeded US 4 billion in Turkey, according to Turkey Airlines statements.
Guillaume Faury, Airbus CEO thanked Turkish Airlines for their trust with meaningful words:
“we are honoured to both support Turkish Airlines growth as one of the world‘s elite airlines and develop our partnership with Türkiye through the new STEP programme we are unveiling today. The programme will provide the framework for Airbus to further broaden its collaboration with Türkiye and support Turkish Airlines’ growth ambitions, with a particular focus on supply chain development, skills and sustainability.”
