Turkey’s slab imports up by 40.4 percent in January-November


In November last year, Turkey’s slab imports amounted to 531,562 metric tons, up by 60 percent compared to October and increasing by 100.6 percent year on year, according to the preliminary data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). Meanwhile, the revenue generated by these imports totaled $258.55 million, increasing by 52.8 percent compared to the previous month and by 82 percent year on year.

In the January-November period, Turkey‘s slab imports amounted to 3,585,223 mt, up 40.4 percent, while the value of these imports grew by 30.3 percent to $1.92 billion, both year on year.

In the given period, Turkey’s largest slab import source was Russia, which supplied 1,458,022 mt. Russia was followed by Malaysia with 1,265,146 mt and Indonesia with 327,547 mt.
