Turkey’s pros and cons in several fields, search

TISK used the data of the 2002 Global Technology Index of the META group, a research institution centered in the United States, and the indicators of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) to mark Turkey’s place in the world.

After comparing Turkey with other countries in 47 fields, TISK announced that Turkey was ranked 33rd out of 49 countries, according to the results of the Global Technology Index. The U.S. was ranked the first and Sweden and Finland followed.

According to the search, the fields that Turkey is successful are info-based works, economic dynamism and competition, number of high-level administrators, export of commercial services, the companies’ ability to harmonize with markets, e-trade’s development and so forth.

The fields that Turkey is respectively not successful are the transformation to digital economy, capacity for technological renovation, export of goods, effectiveness rate, internet use, power of informatics, telecommunication investments, number of computers and so on.

It was pointed out that private sectors, universities and the government should cooperate for national enterprise, otherwise the country will be behind world standards and risk its current position on track for development.
