Turkey’s pig iron imports up 9.3 percent in January-May
In May this year, Turkey’s pig iron imports amounted to 173,449 mt, up by 68.1 percent year on year and by 21.4 percent compared to April, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The total value of Turkey’s pig iron imports in the given month rose by 11.1 percent year on year and by 15.9 percent month on month to $83.91 million.
Meanwhile, in the January-May period this year, Turkey’s pig iron imports amounted to 626,692 mt, up 9.3 percent year on year, while the revenue generated by these imports totaled $299.66 million, decreasing by 18.9 percent compared to the same period of 2022.
In the given period, Turkey imported 376,695 mt of pig iron from Russia, up 20.9 percent year on year. Russia ranked first among Turkey’s pig iron import sources in the same period, followed by Ukraine which supplied 76,579 mt.
