Turkey’s pig iron imports increase by 13.8 percent in January-April
In April this year, Turkey’s pig iron imports amounted to 76,378 metric tons, down by 54.7 percent compared to March and by 47.9 percent year on year, according to the preliminary data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). Meanwhile, the value of these imports totaled $44.60 million, decreasing by 39.0 percent compared to the previous month and by 38.4 percent year on year.
In the January-April period, Turkey’s pig iron imports amounted to 529,405 mt, up 13.8 percent, while the value of these imports increased by 10.8 percent to $238.98 million, both year on year.
In the given period, Turkey’s largest pig iron import source was Russia, which supplied 404,852 mt. Russia was followed by Kazakhstan with 37,786 mt and India with 35,200 mt.
