Turkey’s pig iron imports decrease by 3.3 percent in January-November


In November last year, Turkey’s pig iron imports amounted to 187,351 metric tons, up by 92.0 percent compared to October and by 48.7 percent year on year, according to the preliminary data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). Meanwhile, the value of these imports totaled $73.78 million, increasing by 91.5 percent compared to the previous month and by 42.1 percent year on year.

In the January-November period, Turkey‘s pig iron imports amounted to 1,236,217 mt, down 3.3 percent, while the value of these imports decreased by 5.8 percent to $532.98 million, both year on year.

In the given period, Turkey’s largest pig iron import source was Russia, which supplied 812,758 mt. Russia was followed by Kazakhstan with 186,226 mt and Ukraine with 102,432 mt.
