Turkey’s iron ore imports increase by 59.6 percent in January-April


In April this year, Turkey’s iron ore imports amounted to 1,068,509 metric tons, up by 24.8 percent compared to March and by 155.4 percent year on year, according to the preliminary data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). Meanwhile, the value of these imports totaled $140.35 million, increased by 13.8 percent compared to the previous month and rose by 126.7 percent year on year.

In the January-April period, Turkey’s iron ore imports amounted to 3,601,802 mt, up 59.6 percent, while the value of these imports increased by 78.1 percent to $493.92 million, both year on year.

In the given period, Turkey’s largest iron ore import source was Brazil, which sold 1,909,860 mt. Brazil was followed by Ukraine with 618,243 mt and South Africa with 512,198 mt.
