Turkey’s iron ore imports increase 11.2 percent in January
In January this year, Turkey’s iron ore imports totaled 798,953 mt, increasing by 139.6 percent compared to December and up 11.2 percent as compared to the same month of 2022, according to the statistics provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports decreased by 11.8 percent to $90.6 million year on year, while up 118.8 percent as compared to December.
In the given month, Turkey’s iron ore imports from Brazil stood at 566,315 mt, up more than three-fold year on year. Brazil was followed by Sweden which supplied 164,959 mt, while Turkey’s iron ore imports from Russia in the given month amounted to 37,609 mt.
