Turkey’s iron ore imports down 31.4 percent in January-July


In July this year, Turkey’s iron ore imports totaled 635,208 mt, declining by 12.2 percent compared to the previous month and by 5.4 percent compared to the same month of 2022, according to the statistics provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports was down by 39.0 percent year on year and by 27.2 percent month on month to $73.86 million.

In the first seven months of this year, Turkey’s iron ore imports amounted to 4.23 million mt, falling by 31.4 percent, while the value of these imports moved down by 42.6 percent to $536.89 million, both compared to same period of 2022.

In the given period, Turkey’s iron ore imports from Brazil stood at 2.91 million mt, up 20.7 percent year on year. Brazil was followed by Sweden which supplied 654,782 mt, while Turkey’s iron ore imports from Russia in the same period amounted to 187,502 mt.
