Turkey’s Gul to push Middle East peace in Israel trip

Gul is due to travel to Tel Aviv late Monday, and will hold meetings with Israeli President Moshe Katsav, Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom the following day. On Wednesday, he is scheduled to meet with Palestinian leaders.
In late December, Turkey offered to act as a mediator in the Middle East Peace Process, saying that its good relations with all parties involved could help promote an end to the instability in the region.
