Turkey’s debt drops to $204 billion as of end-May
According to data, the domestic debt dropped to USD 141.3bn as of end-May, down from USD 143.2bn of end-Apr. The exchange rate fluctuations resulted into USD 4.4bn decline in the stock, while the net borrowing in the month amounted to USD 2.4bn. (The TRL-fixed debt declined to USD 114.9bn from USD 116.4bn).
As for the external debt, it reached USD 63bn, increasing by USD 653mn m/m. The net debt repayment was USD 178mn in the month, while the exchange rate fluctuations resulted into USD 830mn increase.
