Turkey’s citrus export season to start on October 2
Turkey is gearing up for the launch of its citrus export season, officially starting on October 2. According to Gökhan Gökoluk, sales representative of Turkish fresh produce exporter İşlek Group, the citrus season kicks off after a positive start of the pomegranate season: “We are pleased to share that the country’s pomegranate season has already begun positively, with exports flowing smoothly to key markets in Europe and beyond. This strong start sets the tone for a promising citrus campaign.”

Due to weather conditions, the lemon harvest is expected to be smaller than last year, Gökoluk explains. “We expect a larger mandarin harvest this year than last year, with an expected 60% increase. However, due to the frost in February and March, we lost a significant amount of lemons, particularly the Interdonato variety. Therefore, we reduced our lemon target volume by 30% compared to last year. In total, we aim to pack 10,000 tons of tangerines, 12,000 tons of lemons, 2,000 tons of grapefruit, and 1,000 tons of oranges this season. Our main market is the EU. We sell directly to supermarket chains and distributors in the EU. We are looking to expand our services by working with new supermarket chains.”
“At İşlek Group, we are fully prepared to meet international demand throughout the citrus season, which has been increasing compared to previous seasons. Our operations are supported by both BRC and GlobalG.A.P. certifications, guaranteeing quality assurance, traceability, and compliance with global food safety standards. With favorable growing conditions, increasing demand, and strong international certifications, we at İşlek Group are positioning ourselves as a reliable partner for citrus buyers worldwide in the 2025 season,” Gökoluk concludes.
İşlek Group will be exhibiting at Fruit Attraction in Madrid. You can find their booth in Hall 14, stand 14D05-5.
