Turkey’s billet imports up 59.3 percent in January-August


In August this year, Turkey’s billet and bloom import volume declined by 23.0 percent month on month and rose by 20.2 percent year on year to 218,086 mt, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports totaled $121.99 million, down by 27.3 percent month on month and up by 5.6 percent year on year.

In the first eight months of this year, Turkey’s billet import volume amounted to 2.46 million mt, growing by 59.3 percent, while the value of these imports moved up by 31.0 percent to $1.47 billion, both year on year.

In the given period, Turkey imported 1,114,182 mt of billet and bloom from Russia, up 11.2 percent year on year, while Algeria supplied 422,808 mt in the given period.
