Turkey would do its best to punish the murderers

Speaking at a tv program, Gul said the attack took place in Mosul and that two terrorists were killed and another one was injured when U.S. soldiers encountered.

Expressing his condolences over the death of security officers, Gul said, "we expect both the Iraqi administration and the international force to find the murderers and bring them before court soon."

Asked if Turkey would join the investigation carried out to find the assailants, Gul said this was possible.

"We are not in a position to leave our assignment to somebody else," Gul said, noting that, this could only be carried out in cooperation.

Stating that there was not a normal order in Iraq but there was confusion, Gul said, "we will do our best not to leave those murderers unpunished."

When Gul was reminded the allegations that there were PKK terrorists among the assailants, he recalled that one of the terrorists was captured, and stressed that, "efforts are underway to clarify the incident. It is obvious that this was a trap. All the intelligence works are underway."
