Turkey wants OIC to upgrade TRNC’s status

Gul, who is currently in Dublin to attend the Mid-Term Ministerial Meeting of Euro-Mediterranean Foreign Ministers, said Turkey wanted the TRNC’s status as an observer with the OIC upgraded. The next OIC summit is scheduled to be held in Istanbul.
Gul also said that many of those attending the meeting in Dublin felt that the United Nations should play a greater role in Iraq. If this were done there could be a more secure transition of power back to the Iraqi people, the Foreign Minister said.
