Turkey-US relations go through difficult period

Edelman said, "Turkey is very important for the United States and a strong Turkey is important for the region. We want to support Turkey to fulfill its targets because this is important for the interests of United States."
"US is ready to cooperate with all the countries in the world to fight against terrorism after September 11 terrorist attacks. Our target was to cooperate with the whole world on this issue. Turkey is a country, which suffered a lot from terrorism, and Turkey always expends support to United States in international arena in fight against terrorism. USA attributes great importance to territorial integrity of Iraq. We want to contribute to commercial relations of Iraq with its neighbor countries," Edelman stated.
He added, "problems that the world faced are intensified in the region where Turkey is located and measures should be taken for it. Turkish-US relations are going through a very difficult period and we are working for re-settlement of cooperation."
