Turkey to send helicopters and crews to Afghanistan

The copters and 56 flight and maintenance personnel will represent part of Turkey’s commitment to help peace and security in Afghanistan, which were among the aims of NATO and Turkey, the General Staff statement said.
“Turkey has continued its contributions to ISAF, functioning under NATO leadership, since the beginning of the operation on Afghanistan,” the statement said. “In line with NATO’s request and as a requirement of its responsibilities as a NATO member country, Turkey has decided to charge three helicopters to meet the needs in Afghanistan.”
The helicopters and their crews will leave for Kabul on May 29, the statement said.
