Turkey to purchase 250,000 tons of feed barley, traders claim
European traders reported on Thursday that the Turkish state grain board TMO had issued an international tender for the purchase and import of about 250,000 metric tonnes of animal feed barley.
The deadline to submit price proposals in the tender is 30 October.
Barley will be shipped between November 10 and December 10 in consignments ranging from 5,000 tons to 25,000 tonnes. Traders said that supplies already imported into Turkey and stored in warehouses under customs bond can be offered, but domestic supplies cannot.
The Turkish ports of Iskenderun (Iskenderun), Adana (Mersin), Izmir (Izmir), Bandirma (Tekirdag), Samsun, Trabzon, and Giresun are the best places to ship your goods.
In recent months, the TMO held a number of tenders for grain and vegetable oils to increase local supplies.
The Turkish harvest of barley, wheat and other grains will be lower than expected this year. Imports are needed to stabilize prices and guarantee sufficient supplies. (Reporting and editing by Michael Hogan)
