Turkey to outline economic program to EU ahead of summit

Turkish Economy Minister Ali Babacan said Wednesday that the new economic program would be aimed at reducing concerns over Turkey’s debt sustainability and interest rate reduction. Tax, the unregistered economy, social security and agriculture reforms will be essential parts of the new programme, he said.
“The new program will not depend on any financial assistance from the EU,” said Babacan. It will focus on structural reforms.”
Details of the program would be presented to EU officials some time between October 1 and December 1, the Minister said.
