Turkey, Sofia to Speed Up Border Checkpoint Construction

Minister Passy met with representatives of the regional administration of the city of Kirklareli to discuss the possible speeding up of the opening of the new border checkpoint. Passy pointed out that the border checkpoint would help for boosting the bilateral relations between Bulgaria and Turkey. Passy said the checkpoint should be only for tourists and that scores of thousands of tourists are expected to cross it every year.

Meanwhile the host of the Minister Passy, Hairi Kurt underlined that the project will also contribute for improving the environmental situation in the region.

The Bulgarian foreign minister crossed the Bulgarian-Turkish border on a boat. On Sunday Minister Passy is scheduled to visit the Bulgarian Black sea city Pomorie, where he is to meet business representatives from the region.
