Turkey Returns Two Planes, One Vessel to Azerbaijan
Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Agriculture and the Turkish company finally signed the protocol of understanding on October 28, thus ending a long-lasting financial scandal.
According to the document, Azerbaijan is required to pay $5 million to the Turkish company, while Saka Korkmaz – to return all vessels and aircraft to Azerbaijan.
In 1993-1994, the Turkish company delivered agricultural products and machinery to Azerbaijan worth a little over $3 million under the existing contract. However, Saka Korkmaz had claimed that the Ministry’s debt amounted to $9 million debt, considering the interest that accrued over ten years.
