Turkey refuses to approve EU terror list

All of the 13 countries except for Turkey that are candidates for membership of the EU have given their backing to the list, which was issued on Tuesday. Turkey has strongly objected to the failure to include the outlawed organisation KADEK, the successor to the terrorist group the PKK, on the list.
The EU began issuing lists of recognised terrorist groups in the wake of the September 11 2001 attacks in the US. With the inclusion of such groups on the list by the EU, their assets are frozen by member states and other sanctions against their activities are put in place. The list is reviewed every six months.
