Turkey prepares action plan to take support of Iraqis
ANKARA (AA) – Ankara is getting prepared for a new action plan to get the support of Iraqi people while it is evaluating the reports of the delegations who held meetings in Iraq on sending soldiers to this country.
Sources point out that the United States has not got the support of the regional people although it won the Iraq war.
The sources state that Turkey, who has a past in the region, should make use of this advantage and is working on a package of proposals comprised of 20 articles.
The plan aiming at getting support of Iraqi people is being evaluated by concerned officials. It includes proposals like pitching tents in the region for evening meals during holy month of Ramadan, giving concerts for people, restoring buildings, mosques and artifacts which have been damaged, and putting into practice infrastructure projects for electricity and water.
Organizing a stadium concert with Turkish singers who are popular in Iraq is also among the proposals.
Drawing attention to importance of putting into practice the proposals of action plan as soon as possible, it is stated that the completed projects will cause sympathy of regional people for Turkish soldiers in case these soldiers are sent to the region.
Meanwhile, it is learned that a delegation from Ankara will hold meetings regarding the action plan in the region in mid-September.
In the meantime, it is noted that it will be more appropriate if Turkish soldiers are deployed in central Iraq in case a decision is taken to send troops to Iraq. Sources state that it will be easier this way to control terrorist organizations in the region.
Noting that they receive messages that Shiite groups in the south are warm towards deployment of Turkish soldiers, the sources say that this will help Turkish soldiers’ struggle against terrorist organizations.
