Turkey Not to Take Place in the US-Middle East Free Trade Zone

Turkey is not expected to participate in the US-Middle East Free Trade Zone, owing to its accession to the EU’s Customs Union on March 6, 1995.

Citing Turkey as an example of a synergy of democracy and Islam, Bush suggested the concept of a US-Middle East Free Trade Zone for economic prosperity in the region.
