Turkey Might Intervene into Northern Iraq

A statement of the General Staff said that news published in a newspaper earlier in the day entitled "Soldiers Put Forth Reservations", "We are Announcing Objections of the General Staff to Annan Plan" did not reflect the realities.

The statement noted that media should refrain from such news which could have a negative impact on negotiators of Cyprus issue, which was a national cause.

In the statement, the General Staff asked Turkish nation to respect only to official statements.

TSK believed that finding a fair and lasting solution to Cyprus issue through talks was necessary and important, the statement stressed.

The statement added, "in this context, efforts and talks among concerned institutions continue in order to harmonize and concretize the views. This process in Turkey continues in the way that has to be in democratic and modern countries."
