The secretary of the foreign trade ministry said in a statement that the meeting of the committee will be held on the occasion of a visit by the assistant for the Libyan prime minister Matouq Muhammad Matouq to Ankara. He added "our relations in the trade and economic field and in the sector of companies will be excellent — more than before."

On the other hand, the Libyan minister of justice and general security Muhammad Ali al-Mesrati said that Libya is in need of large sums and to modern technical equipment to fight illegal immigration which is active via its lands. In an interview published yesterday with the Italian Corrierra Dela Sera daily, the Libyan official said "we are in need of much money and high technical capabilities. A technical committee has prepared a long list to the Italian side including all what we need of helicopters, goggles and radars but the problem is in the embargo imposed by the European Union," on Libya.

He added that the "Libyan coasts extend along an area of 2,000 KM and the land borders for 7,000 Km and should we be able to put the five million citizens, all to monitor these borders (we still would not have enough people) to succeed in that.
