Turkey is worried on decision to expel Arafat
Cengizer emphasized that due to the current condition of Israel-Palestine clash, both sides should act with more responsibility than they had all the time.
Noting that Turkey was seriously concerned about the decision of Israel to expel Arafat, Cengizer recalled that international society and the United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan had warned Israel to give up its decision. He said that Turkey was concerned that the decision of Israel could trigger developments which would endanger the stability in all region.
Noting that disagreement between Israel and Palestine could not be solved without the support of international society, Cengizer said that this disagreement burdened a heavy responsibility not only to the sides, but also to international society as it had aspects to deteriorate global stability as well as regional stability.
Cengizer said that Turkey harshly condemned the terrorist attacks launched on Israeli civilians and added that Palestinian administration was responsible to take necessary measures to stop the violence.
Noting that on the other side the methods of Israel on fight against terrorism incited the hostility and it should be stopped, Cengizer said that if both sides fulfilled their responsibilities mutually with full determination, the "road map", which would facilitate two states to survive side by side, could reach its aim.
