Turkey hopes to win Iraqi hearts

Officials in Ankara are drafting a 20 point plan to win over Iraqi’s and to moderate any opposition they may feel to a deployment of Turkish troops in their country, the report said.

One proposal included in the plan was the staging of public concerts in Iraq featuring Turkish performers popular in the region, such as singer İbrahim Tatlıses. One venue suggested for such a concert is the Baghdad Stadium.

Turkey also plans to have tents set up for the coming religious fasting month of Ramadan, providing people with dinner with the sun down. The scheme also foresees the restoration of historical sites and mosques as well as improving the country’s power and water infrastructure.
It is believed that the Iraqi people, after the staging of these activities and events, would be more welcoming towards Turkish soldiers sent to their country.

Under the plan it is said that it would be the best to deploy Turkish troops in central Iraq, where terrorist groups could be more easily controlled.
